Unlocking knowledge: Florida's researcher practitioner partnerships work

چکیده
In an effort to increase the use of research in criminal justice and correctional practices, the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) supports research to study and develop the best strategies to achieve this goal. Translational criminology studies, such as those by Laub1 and Innes and Everett,2 often found that researcher-practitioner partnerships (RPPs) serve as an effective strategy to increase the use of research in practice. Providing more support for the effective use of RPPs in correctional agencies is a recent NIJ-funded translational criminology study that focused on RPPs in Florida’s adult and juvenile correctional agencies. Findings from this study indicate that RPPs can provide mutual benefits for practitioners and researchers, and that successful partnerships require trust, reciprocity, and frequent communication and involvement.3

Beyond “Two Cultures”: Guidance for Establishing Effective Researcher/Health System Partnerships
Background The current literature proposing criteria and guidelines for collaborative health system research often fails to differentiate between: (a) various types of partnerships, (b) collaborations formed for the specific purpose of developing a research proposal and those based on long-standing relationships, (c) researcher vs. decision-maker initiatives, and (d) the underlying drivers for ...
متن کاملLearning and mutuality in municipal partnerships and beyond: a focus on northern partners
North-South municipal partnerships that are based on practitioner-to-practitioner collaboration are explicitly concerned with joint learning and knowledge production for more effective practice. Such partnerships assume a principle of mutuality – northern and southern partners are both assumed to gain from them, whether in similar or different ways. Research suggests that the processes of learn...
متن کاملAgency-university Partnership for Evidence-based Practice in Social Work
Little is known ahout evidence-based practice (EBP) in social service agencies beyond studies of researcher, practitioner, and educator opinions. The Bringing Evidence for Social Work Trairüng (BEST) Project involved 16 participants from 3 social service agencies. The experiential training, delivered by 2 doctoral students, focused on a team-identified practice issue and followed the EBP proces...
متن کاملPrinciples for Knowledge Creation in Collaborative Design Science Research
Design Science Research (DSR) advances the scientific knowledge base while at the same time leading to research results of practical utility. Several guidelines for DSR have been proposed to support researchers in their work. Collaborative forms of DSR require that knowledge be created across the boundaries of the research community and the practitioners' community. Only little research, though...
متن کاملResearch funder required research partnerships: a qualitative inquiry
BACKGROUND Researchers and funding agencies are increasingly showing interest in the application of research findings and focusing attention on engagement of knowledge-users in the research process as a means of increasing the uptake of research findings. The expectation is that research findings derived from these researcher-knowledge-user partnerships will be more readily applied when they be...
